Western Mental Health Center (WMHC) is a state certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Intensive Outpatient Program (DBT IOP). Those appropriate for the program include persons who seem to always be in a crisis, have difficulty regulating emotions, or may have chronic thoughts of suicide or gestures of self-harm. Some may have interpersonal problems and risky behaviors that decrease one’s quality of life. Some may feel that life is not worth living as it is currently being lived. These are the type of people that DBT treatment is designed for and we can help!
DBT IOP is a year-long program that includes weekly group skills training and individual therapy. The group sessions involve learning new skills and completing homework assignments; the individual sessions are with a DBT-certified therapist at WMHC. The primary skills learned are Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance.
